Introduction

While the organisations increasingly becoming multicultural due to the impact of globalisation , the issue of teamwork is gaining more ground as the key driver of aligning the organisational goal with individual goals of the employees . The business processes of modern times have become highly dynamic due to the rapid development of science and technology and to cope with such dynamism , the employees now need to maintain a streak of learning and applying multiple skills . On the other

hand organisations cannot focus on employee training at the expense of the flow of production , which leaves them with no option but to employ strategies to maximize individual potential of the employees . The concept of empowering the team emerges at this point , since empowerment raises both responsibility and accountability of all individuals in a team and the force of such factors are expected to propel the team members into sharing their knowledge and skills with one another to achieve the team goal . However , one can argue about the efficacy of such strategy by raising the point that employees may not agree to share their special knowledge and skill with colleagues , as special skills provide individual competitive advantage .
