HIV is a social problem which threatens every man , woman and child in the world today . The pandemic rate is the most serious social and humanitarian challenge in our time . From the time it was discovered which is two decades ago , it has a catastrophic toll in the world especially in the continent of Africa , tearing apart the social fabric of the society thus threatening its economic and social development . The consequences of this social

problem is the indiscriminate and widespread deaths , deteriorating the quality of life and the life expectancy , which has in the end threatened and reversed the hard-worn social and economic gains of many countries especially at the community level who are the worst affected . It is rapidly becoming the most serious threat and economic progress of the world today . Its impact is aggravated by the overall economic , political , social as well as cultural practices dominated by the high unemployment rate , high rates of poverty which further undermines the ability of many countries to effectively compete in the global market . It has been a major global problem in which every government has put some amount of funds to combat it . This has greatly affected the annual budgets of many countries especially from the continent of Africa because of the little resources they have and the high level of poverty .
