Automaticity refers to the automatic cognitive processing of the brain to answer questions , to solve equations or computations , and to understand and cope in the external world or the sensory environment . On the other hand , Ironic process theory deals with the ironic result of a pressing thought inspite of the attempt of suppressing the undesired thought . In so doing , a balance of the process needs to be executed to aid in controlling one 's involuntary behavior of action slips
