According to information from the National Institute for Mental Health website , the mode of treatment for mental health illnesses has experienced some great change over some years from the 1940s . The institution is based on reducing mental illness burden on the country This study has an aim to understand how social and cultural factors have impacted the evolution of mental health services in United States and to explore the impact of managed care on the mental health delivery

The thirst for protection and care has made great change in the mental health services provision . In the 1960s the treatment was still institutional , as years have gone by , various factors have changed the mode of treatment according to NIMH history . Reviewing and Reconstructing the institutional management This was done by setting up reviews for the initial projects within the institution with an aim of updating in accordance with new technologies hence improving and eliminating the useless projects .
