There are several known origins of the American Revolution . First among these are the rises of several concepts that awakened American society These concepts were liberalism , republicanism and free religion Liberalism which was absorbed by American society through the works of John Locke , instilled the idea of a social contract between the government and those who are being governed . It made Americans see that they have the right to overthrow their government should it not be serving their best interests . Republicanism is a concept that places national interests

before personal luxury . Back then , the ruling British in America exemplified corrupt lifestyles which Americans increasingly began to abhor . Lastly , many people who were not exposed to such concepts rose to revolution on the basis of religion . Many used texts such as the Hebrew bible to justify their action of rebellion against tyranny . From history , we can see that there were many parties who benefited from the revolution . The section of society which could be thought of to have benefited the most were the wealthy merchants who supported the revolution . These men loaned sums of money and supplies to the patriots in for the revolution to be carried out . After the declaration of independence , these merchants were paid at face value which made them much wealthier than they were before . The section that lost the most would have to be the loyalists who supported the crown Many of them had to leave the country and seek refuge in neighboring territories

No , the constitution is not elitist . Before the constitution was installed , the previous confederate policies that were guiding the states held very little power to unify the different states . Each state held on to their own elitist ideologies and refused to cooperate under one stand on several issues . Because of the constitution , power was given to the federal government to take control of these states and this power allowed the federal government to take care of each state regardless of individual wealth . The constitution supported the rights of everyone and sought to treat everyone as equals . Thus , it cannot be called a document that supports elitist rule...
