1 . Look at the objectives of the correlation and illustrate them in graph form . You may use any behavior you choose . You must also provide an explanation of the graph Correlations refer to the degree of relationship between two related or unrelated factors . The relationship can be either positive , negative or no correlation at all . The correlation coefficient is the value of the correlation which ranges from -1 to 1 , a value of 0 means no correlation . The nearer the coefficient is to 1 , the more strongly related it is , the closer

the coefficient is to -1 the more is the relationship inversely correlated and the more the value is nearer to zero , the lower the correlation is
The scatter plot shows the relationship of dieting and weight loss , the correlation is positive which means that the longer the person diets the greater the weight lost . A perfect positive correlation would appear as closely clustered in a straight line pointing towards the right The scatter plot shows a negative correlation , wherein the greater the months spent in dieting , the smaller the waist size becomes . A perfect negative correlation would show a straight line and a clustering of values in a decreasing trend The scatter plot shows that month spent in dieting is not related to monthly income , hence the value points are scattered and does not converge to form a line 2 . Illustrate the following correlation in graph form . In to determine whether peoples` self-esteem is related to their income level researchers would most likely make use of the Pearson r ' moment correlation to establish the relationship between the 2 variables whether the level of self-esteem is related to income levels
15 . Develop a mini study based on the following two hypotheses- main effect hypothesis and stress buffering hypothesis
Main effect hypothesis
Ho : The effect of time of practice to actual performance is not significant
Ha : The effect of time of practice is significant to actual performance .The hypothesis can be tested using analysis of variance wherein time of practice is composed of two levels night and day and the actual performance can be measured on a task to be accomplished such as problem solving
Stress buffering hypothesis
Ho : The social support of group members during a group problem solving task does not affect the stress level of the individual performing the task
Ha : The social support of group members during a group problem solving task decreases the level of stress by individuals in accomplishing the task
The hypothesis can be tested using the correlation method social support as measured by a survey rating can be correlated to the self-report rating of stress levels . The buffering hypothesis says that a higher social support can protect the individual from adverse effects of stress in accomplishing a task
