Abstract

Multiethnic societies continue to struggle with the benefits of integrating minority groups into large communities within the society against its costs . The cost of this integration and assimilation has resulted in increased cases of the non white population being exposed to ethnic experiences and consequently racism , thereby subjecting them to mental illnesses . Considering the case of United Kingdom in particular the integration and assimilation of the black population is intense This has in turn led to increased cases of schizophrenia within

This therefore examines how several factors such as racial bias in medical diagnosis , stress as a result of minority status of a particular race and racism induced stress may have contributed to high incidences of schizophrenia among the African-Caribbean population
