Paper Topic:

What happened to Connie was her family fault - YES

OPENING STATEMENT : Adolescents are often misunderstood . This is attributed to the hormones raging as they struggle to become adults and fit right into society . Sad to say though , instead of understanding them , adults , most especially parents scowl and frown upon them and treat them as menace of society . In the case of Connie who was torn between growing out of her childhood and growing into a woman , her mother failed to give her the understanding and love that should have been due her . Hence , it is only but natural that Connie 's family

be blamed for her demise . Had her family been good and attentive to her and the phase she was in , she would not have fallen to her fate

1 . For Connie 's mother , she was just another teenager who thinks only of herself and is very vain . As Connie had the habit of looking at herself and admiring herself in the mirror , her mother would often scold her about it

Example : Her mother , who noticed everything and knew everything and who hadn 't much reason any longer to look at her own face , always scolded Connie about it "Stop gawking at yourself . Who are you ? You think you 're so pretty " she would say . Connie would raise her eyebrows at these familiar old complaints and look right through her mother , into a shadowy vision of herself as she was right at that moment : she knew she was pretty and that was everything 2 . Connie is often compared to her sister , June , who was admittedly very different from her . June was very plain and mousy while Connie was very pretty and so full of life . theless , all she ever heard from her mother and aunts were praises of how good and June was . For an adolescent who needs attention and appreciation , this is a very big blow that she sometimes wished her mother dead . And yet , instead of turning to other things , Connie manifested her rebellion in a different way Since June wanted to go to places , Connie did the same thing with her friends . They would drive three miles to a nearby shopping plaza and walk around the stores or watch a movie

However , such aversion , one that her mother only approved of , is the one thing that led her to Arnold Friend who took away such vitality and life in her

Example . Connie had long dark blond hair that drew anyone 's eye to it and she wore part of it pulled up on her head and puffed out and the rest of it she let fall down her back

3 . Although Connie was only fifteen , she can already draw the opposite sex towards her and she knows that she does . Such prettiness in Connie drew the attention of the opposite sex and unfortunately , the attention of Arnold Friend . Sadly though , she didn 't receive any guidance from her father on how to relate with them , what are the dangers of being with them and what...
