Examining Architectures in Different Periods : Postmodernism The term postmodernism was first used in architecture , which refers to the style of newly construct buildings in the mid-20th century , and later used in other forms of art such as literature , visual arts and even in philosophy of language , law and history . Postmodernism architecture was born and created right after the World War II has subsided . They believe that the modern architecture from the Western Europe origin rise in this era that is thought to be hostile and boring because of its featurelessness as a

result of the war . With this , a reaction of style has placed and replaced the current orientation probably to innovate its bland approach , which then termed as postmodernism
Postmodernism architecture was first introduced in the large America on 1950 's . It was then called as the international style which continued to influence until this generation worldwide . The design might be misappropriated as classical but not actually re-interpreting the Roman and Greek neoclassical architecture . Pillars and other elements of pre-modern design were just recreated . The fazade has fully decorated by curtain wall , and cantilevers are used as the new wit , ornament and reference . Unusual used colors such as terra cotta or stainless steel emerged . Non-orthogonal angles , eclectic designs and surfaces that are uncommonly seen were also become visible
Postmodernist designers and architects provide new rules involving experimentation in techniques , angles and stylistic reference using technological advancement , aesthetics and colliding of past elements and references . As an effect , ordinary styles become familiar but unique vogue , which are exuberant , lively and witty . Hence , the reintroduction of its decorativeness became successful and most influential
