The health care system of every nation is an-all important issue that is duly handled with utmost integrity and dexterity by the government stakeholders of the health sectors including medical practitioners , and other health care workers , health managers and economists in operational health matters . It also brings to fur the impact that the private sector can have aside the input of the populace via task , government through her policies and budget for the health sector

The iron triangle of health which includes cost , access and quality has generated argument

in several quarters with the increasing cost of maintaining health of the populace , reduced access to health care facilities because of fund or insurance matters , and the decline in the quality of service the clients /patients get when they patronize hospitals . This makes government intervention and private sector participation indispensable

However , it had already been demonstrated that , in the absence of governmental intervention , market forces will reconfigure the system on the basis of economic concerns , with little regard to quality or access And the burden of quality and access lays hanging in the sky . In view of the fact that health status of a nation is a function of its productivity , the place of government can not be overemphasized . Beyond this level , the health sector that interacts with government and the organized private sector comes in : it is saddled with the responsibility of `saving lives ' and its ultimate goal is to maintain health among the populace

It is therefore its role to fashion amiable plans for procuring improved medical facilities that are socially acceptable , technologically sound and up-to-date with health it is also concerned with implementing primary health care programs which makes health care available and accessible to the people . The components of primary health care includes provision of food and water , essential drugs , environmental sanitation treatment of common illnesses and ailments , dental health and physiotherapy . These are integral components of the universal health program

As part of its programs , the health sector should also have a special monitoring Unit that closely works with public and private hospitals : it designs standards , maintains it 's and penalizes offenders . This is important because until the health sector realizes that it is its sole responsibility to cater for the health of the people , it would be heavily reliant upon the government , the insurance companies and even its clients

The fact is that the burden of quality and access can not in the hands of the private sector everyone has a role to play including the health man on the streets . With solid programs and principles , it would be easier for the government and the private sector including the insurance companies to adequately fund the system to such a level that health care services become available to the common man . It is when the health sector has realized its priority that the insurance companies can then be moved into the next phase , the populace also play their part
