Studying and drawing conclusions about the universal patterns exceed purposes beyond entertainment . In the commonness of life on earth , most would expect that the composition of space beyond our atmosphere might be planets , and other larger objects of our solar system isz richly composed of a variety of complex phenomena , which on earth drive weather , affect communications and provide beautiful displays with the aurora (Mark , 2003 . universe reveals critical information that greatly benefits human life . Farmers wait until a certain phase of the moon is present before planting their crops . Scientific studies discovered this information , by using what they do know to find out what they do not know , take chances at educated guesses and brought this information to humans . Edwin Hubble came into an amazing , outrageous universal discovery . He studied the galaxy and created what he called a big bang concept

The Big Bang

Hubble observed and studied the distance and speed of the lights in the nightime sky . He noticed the galaxy that is much farther into outer space were zooming around at a much more rapid speed than those closest to the earths atmosphere . By plotting speed and direction of the galaxy 's motions , it was soon evident that this expansion occurred from an explosion that caused matter to be dispersed in many direction long ago . This explosion eventually came to be called the big bang (Smith 1998 . Scientists were convinced at one time the twinkling stars , the mysterious glowing moon , all of the planets holding some unknown eternal life , the glistening sun were all combined into one big bundle . Hubble 's explanation is the ever increasing and expansion of the universe resulted in the big bang . The big bang had spread everything in the universe

Red Shift

Glow from stars produce light . Planets reflect that glowing light from the dancing , shinning stars . The big bang theory determined that stars do not stay in one place . Stars are continuously dancing , prancing and wandering all over the fascinating universe . Once in a while , evidence from the stars do show up on planet earth . Sky lights coming down to earth indicates the universe is ever expanding . This is called the red shift

The galaxy moving toward the earth is called the blue shift . The galaxy moving away from the earth is called the red shift . Toward the end of the lifespan of sun stars , their cores begin contracting and getting hotter . While this happens , the gas from the outer part of the star expands 200 times and the star becomes a big red giant . Later the red giant fades . Its remaining gas travels outward (Vogt , 1999 . Stars moving toward the red shift , or outward from the earth are nearing towards the end of their existence . The stars are simply chaing into another form . They are no longer stars
