Imagery pertains to the clear picture that is created in the mind , which appeals to the different senses sight , smell , touch , hearing and taste . Oftentimes , they are used figuratively , thus providing depth to the story . Alice Munro 's Thanks for the Ride ' is teeming with the different elements of an effective literature including a number of imageries that gave the movie more impact

and made the story very substantial . Such images have different facets that taking them on face value would not justify the motive . The cunningness of Munro choosing the right elements in making such images made it possible for viewers to easily relate and identify with them
Thanks for the Ride ' is about a one night affair in the life of a guy years earlier when he was a teen . However , although it was him telling the story , the main focus was actually the girl he had met that night , Lois , who went with him for a ride . As he recounted the events of that night , it can be observed how much meaning that experience had for him that though it was a fleeting moment in his life his memory of which was vivid and the recollection was so detailed .
