ABSTRACT

Distance learning has taken new approaches in the form of e-learning With the increasing usage of internet , e-learning has had tremendous growth over the past few years . E-learning is being increasingly used for technical subjects . C-language being used in various specialised fields has been attracting the attention of learning centres . However due to the limitations of implementations of E-learning systems , the learning experience for C-programming language is largely monolithic and unidirectional

This research reviews two different e-learning centres for

the C-programming languages . The common thread among both the E-learning centres and one of the main reasons for existing level of user experience is the level of interaction of the E-learning system . The learners have no established way of interacting with the tutors or get adequate guidance from them . Further , they are unable to find help from the centre when it is required . In addition , the programming languages require high degree of practical work in addition to the theoretical work . There is a lack of facilities to try out and understand the subject in detail through the e-learning centres . This is one of the key reasons why learners do not find enough long-term value in the e-learning centres for subjects such as C-programming

This research looks at an agent based e-learning system that can address the limitations of the current systems through better level of interaction . The research focuses on the usage of agents in e-learning and how it can be applied to the C-programming environment . It dwells into the requirements of an e-learning system as a general system and then specifically for a C-programming learning centre . Based on these requirements , a design of the system including the system design and the user interface design is done . An evaluation is also designed to verify the intuitiveness , usability and the level of interaction of the system
