Introduction

The question of how morally right or wrong affirmative action is has for a long time and still continues to divide Americans . The affirmative action whose intention was to unite the Americans seems to be doing just the opposite as individuals continue to have doubts and question its ethics . The sole purpose of affirmative action was to implement programs that would ensure that equality is practiced and applied to all citizens of the United

States without discrimination . But then some of these programs apply in ways that have raised mixed feelings amongst critics of affirmative action (Mills , 1994 . Those who oppose the action argue that it is no different from what it is trying to fight as it is a form of discrimination itself (West , 1996 . They explain that the action is evil , unjust and immoral and are advocating for it to be scrapped off because evil should not be used to repay evil as two wrongs do not make a right . Moreover , they claim that that the many years that have gone by should be enough to rectify the evils that were committed against the minority . This and many other criticisms have caused several people to question and doubt the ethics that govern the application of affirmative action and how morally right some of the programs are
