A new health problem is gaining steam in American , and is finally starting to receive the attention it deserves . The obesity epidemic that has hit the country is only growing , and many people are pointing fingers at everyone else . But whose fault is it really , and what can be done about it

Many people have jumped on the boat saying that its all the fast food companies fault . And to some extent it is . Ethically , a company is there to protect and offer services to its customers , but if it is offering

unhealthy food , should the company realize this and change their stance only based on ethics ? Ethically a company should not serve anything that is going to hurt it customers , but if this were true we would have no fast food , tobacco , or alcohol industry at all . Ethically these companies tend to turn their heads in the face of the almighty dollar Fast food restaurants all know it is beneficial to sell huge , big , and super sized things , and do so all that they can to attract customer They seem to not care if it is unhealthy , as long as they are making their money

On the other hand however , we cannot only blame the companies Ethically , the consumer should know when enough is enough , and when to stop eating , or not eat , something that is unhealthy . It is also their ethical duty to stand up and say they are not going to keep eating something they know is unhealthy , no matter how much they want to . They can 't put all the blame on the companies , they have an ethical obligation as well , and they aren 't holding up to their side to much either

From an ethical standpoint , both the consumers and the companies are to blame , and that both sides of the debate need to look at their ethics and change what they are doing and find a solution that makes both sides hold up their ethical responsibilities...
