find their footing in security issues , and make training and practice of law enforcement transcend racial and gender barriers , fields of knowledge will then be explored to solve impeding security challenges with ease And that is what is essential for this time
Many years ago , there were very few women in politics and policing . In states all around the country , women recruited into the police force could be easily numbered because of their limited number . However , their incorporation into the system over the years has added unique strength and honor to police strategies . It has arguable added another dimension to community policing . Now , women head major police departments in a number of states such as Boston , Detroit , and San Francisco , among others
In fact , the impact of women is not limited to the kitchen and the four walls of the home but now to the pillars of towns , cities and nations as women influence different segments of both military institutions and police agencies . It is no news that the effect of women has been astonishing in these places . Now , there is an increase in the number of women employed to participate in maintaining law and at local police agencies
Women and the minorities [Hispanics and blacks] are being recruited into the police in increasing large numbers . Research shows convincingly that , with few exceptions , they perform as well or even better than white or male officers . This is not unconnected to their emotional intelligence and reliance on communication skills than the brutal force employed by their male counterpart in force
