I would like to appeal your decision of considering the grade that I acquired in my 3rd attempt at this course which was a failing grade as my official grade . I am aware that the college only allows a student to take a course three times . In contrary to this , I have taken the course four times and received a failing grade on my first and third , a passing grade of C on my 2nd time , and an excellent grade of A on my fourth time . My appeal is not to your sense of

mercy but rather to your sense of reason and so I humbly request for you to read on and judge for yourself whether or not I deserve the chance that I am asking for

Firstly , I would like to argue my position on the ground of technicality . Although I had failed my first attempt at this course , I was able to pass it on my second attempt with a grade of C . The reason why I decided to make a third attempt is because I was still unsatisfied with my performance and wanted to improve it . However , even if I had failed in that 3rd attempt , that does not take away the fact that I had already passed the class on my second attempt . The virtue of my passing this course on my second attempt cannot be taken away by my failure in the 3rd attempt . This is because passing a course means having earned the minimum required competence in the subject matter for that course In my third attempt , this minimum required competence may have changed based on either the instructor 's or the institution 's perspectives Still , based on the minimum required competence that was present in the course during the second time that I took it , I qualify to pass it Furthermore , there is no clear justification of why it is my grade on the 3rd attempt that should take precedence over my grade in the second attempt Secondly , I bring into your consideration that during the 3rd time that I had taken the course , unforeseen circumstances were imposed upon me such that I was not able to devote ample attention to it . When I took the course the third time , I was initially determined to surpass my previous grade of C . However after the unfortunate incident that befell upon me , I had to postpone my enthusiasm for the course in to attend to more pressing needs thus leading to my failing the course on my 3rd try . Therefore , my having failed the course on the 3rd try was not because of a lack of effort on my part but moreover it was a lack of opportunity . This is something that I made up for during my fourth attempt . I am aware that the rules say that my fourth attempt cannot be counted and I am not asking you to count it as my official grade however I am asking you to consider that I was able to get an A on that fourth attempt which proves that had I not been so distracted during my 3rd attempt , I might have gotten an A as well

Placing these arguments into consideration , I hope that you will see this matter in a more reasonable light and find it fit to allow me to pass this course with a grade of C so that I may continue my studies in obtaining my degree . I believe that I am still a potential asset to your institution and that if you can give me this chance which I think I still deserve , I will move on to accomplish many great things under our college 's honorable banner .
