Method

An interdisciplinary group (who served as the panel ) was made in to formulate the essential principles needed for the improvement of the diversified educational policy and practice . According to James A Banks , This panel was a Multicultural Education Consensus Panel which was supported by the Center for Multicultural Education at the University of Washington and the Common Destiny Alliance at the University of Maryland . It was also accounted that the group consisted of two psychologists , a political scientist , a sociologist , and four multicultural education specialists who are specialists in race relations and multicultural education , and that it was modeled in to generate reports for the National Academy of Sciences . The panel had formulated twelve essential principles which characterize ways for the progress of educational policy and practice which are related to diversity (Banks ) According to Banks , it had four divisions which included focus on teacher learning , student learning , intergroup relations and school governance , organization and equity . The first principle focused on teacher learning which states that professional development programs should be a

medium in for the teachers to comprehend the heterogeneity of the ethnic groups in the society of U .S . and how different factors such as ethnicity , language , race and social class correlate to affect the behavior of students . The second to fourth principles discussed on student learning . The points stated on these principles are : the assurance of impartial contingency on students to satisfy and acquire high standards instill to the students that comprehension , in a social context , is constructed through the aid of their curriculum and that knowledge determines the researchers ' individual experiences such as their stand upon life socially , politically and morally and the school 's administration to convince the students to participate in extra and co-corricular activities that improve the students ' academic achievement and encourage positive relationships within different races The fifth to the ninth principle discussed on intergroup relations which explains that : schools should carry out formation of group memberships wherein intergroup relations notably promote intergroup relations and provide opportunities that will demote fear and anxiety within interracial groups the students should be aware about some common values that almost all cultural...
