Immigration is an intricate trend affecting the UK in different degrees This study is concerned with the economic effects of immigration to the UK economy with a prominence to the construction workers from Bulgaria and Romania . In the UK , qualitative research on immigration became a major concern in the 19th century when the issue started gaining considerable attention . It can be argued that immigration in the UK is closely allied to economic integration and diverse demographic changes On the other hand , the UK has placed sanctions on would be immigrants to control their inflow . However , it is intriguing to note that immigration restrictions and limitations have not reduced the zeal for Bulgarian and Romanian workers to work in UK 's construction industry

Consequently , there is much to be learned from universal research concerning immigrants worldwide . However , unique factors like history birthplace of immigrants to mention a few suggest that such literature may not be irrefutable in the case of UK . Immigrants are known to affect both the demand and supply side of the economy in different ways . For instance , according to research immigrants lead to various benefits to world economies as opposed to causing strain and pressure . However critics of immigrants believe that they cause more harm to economies since they occupy the positions of local residents .
