DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AMONG TEENS

Domestic violence is defined as a patter of coercive behaviour and tactics used by one person over other to gain power and control . The abuse may include , verbal , physical and financial abuse and it takes among all races and ethnic groups . The over all figure of domestic violence and sexual violence has increased many folds in Massachusetts State . Between , June 2002 to June 2003 , 3900 women and children sought shelter , while 40 ,000 restraining s were issued . According to Stare police , domestic violence has doubled in recent years

. Especially the adult parents of teens are more vulnerable to such assaults and in majority of the cases and they are unable to have legal protection from their children

However , a more dangerous phenomenon among the teenagers is the growing rage , which often results in disastrous incidents . For example in February 1996 in Moses Lake

Washington , 14 years old Barry Loukaitus shot and killed a teacher and two classmates at his junior high school . In November 1996 , again in Pearl Mississippi 16 years old Luke Woodham Shot and killed two students and one reason for this rage was that his girlfriend recently broke with him and he was consistently called pudgy and gay in school . In West Paducah , 13 year old Mitchel Johnson along with 11 year old Andrew Golden shot and killed three students in high school and the reason was constantly bulling and gay label in the school news . In April 1999 in Littleton , Colorado , Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold who were 18 and 17 year old shot and killed a teacher and 12 students and in the end themselves . Again they have been bullied and called countless degrading names

These incidents were shocking for the whole nations , and it has brought the dilemma in front of every one with a big question , that there are serious things to be understood about the teenage violence . The repeated incidences shows the of the understanding . Human beings are not born with violence , but violence is a learned behaviour , which we can observe in many shapes around us . Normally it is learned from elders and friends and this behaviour is rein-enforced by movies , games and TV When children at an early age are disciplined with extreme punishment or abused verbally at home , it is not surprising that they grow up to be violent individuals

Normally , we label the violent teenagers as troubled individuals , but research has shown that if these violent individuals are removed from their troubled environment , they can become normal people . The violent teenagers are part of the society and often they resort to violence due to the circumstances . Some times , they are pushed by parents and some times pushed by friends at school . Teenagers are often pressed by their parents to the things they don 't like , while others are mocked or laughed at , and labeled with different derogatory names in schools and colleges . Such behaviour makes them feel dis-honored and they often loose their self-esteem...
