How disney movie mold children

Materialism is also somewhat portrayed in an alarmingly Machiavellian way in Aladdin . Surprisingly , the main protagonist in this movie is a male , Aladdin . Portrayed as a street rat , Aladdin is a rough , social deviant who is forced ' to weasel his way in out of Agrabah 's streets because of his poverty . The viewer is led to overlook Aladdin 's habit of lying and deceiving people out of sympathy for him , virtually permitting his end (predictably and desirably a happy-ever-after ending after all it is from Disney ) to justify his means . This in effect

says to the viewer that it 's okay to lie about yourself and deceive other people into believing you 're someone else , just as long as it 's done in the name of love and because it 'll turn out okay in the long run . The get-rich-quick ' angle is subtly underplayed here , but nevertheless still present

Another theme prevalent in Aladdin is racism . Of course children would not have a clue about things like this , but it is nevertheless an issue that adults should be alarmed about . Don 't you think it 's somewhat off that Aladdin , Princess Jasmine and the Sultan are all portrayed as somewhat Caucasian - in skin color , in their accent - but still bearing Middle Eastern facial features . All the rest of the characters (except for the Genie ) are portrayed as very much Arabian , and seemingly evil-looking . This gives the impression that Aladdin and the other Caucasian characters are rightfully protagonists because they are superior ' or better

Looking back , does Disney now seem more child-friendly than ever ? I don 't think so . Although one might start the whole debate about subliminal messages , I 'd say it 's better to be safe than sorry in the end . Apparently , not all that seems sunshiny-bright is good...
