The Difference in our Society in America Today Compared to 1940 's

The world war two was a conflict between the Allied powers and the Axis powers from 1939-1945 . This war resulted in deaths of over 70 million people , making it a worst history in the world

In the beginning of this war there was no improved technology that could help ease the fighting of Americans against the war . Most aircraft factories relied on traditional hand-crafted processes which enhanced quick production and frequent designing

This work force required high skilled workers who

produced a limited output . This mass production was implemented by Henry Ford with whom new methods were needed with gigantic factories and a large much less skilled work force in which many of them were women

There were many shortages of resources in areas that were critical under which production stopped on many items such as automobiles , new houses and new appliances in this situation many commodities such as meat sugar , coffee , tires and clothing were rationed

Local schools were set up to act as stations where people could get there ration coupons , in which each person received the same food and clothing coupons regardless of the age . In the world war two era three things were needed for one to purchase an item this included : the item must be present at the store keeper , the purchaser had to have cash and lastly the buyer needed to have the coupons

Under this rule most drivers received three gallons a week for their automobiles . There was plenty of gasoline whereby rationing was an entire efficient way to ration automobile expenses

The war and Navy department purchased vast quantities of supplies in which they accounted for a 40 of GNP together with other war agencies The wartime efforts focused on trucks and tanks whereby under this in 1942 the war production board was established in whose purpose was to regulate the production and allocation of materials and fuel during the war in America this case was dissolved in 1945 after the defeat of Japan

Many controls were put on the economy whereby price controls were imposed on most products , also controlled were the wages , under this the military purchased upwards of GNP , this largely shaped industrial [production . Unemployment problem ended whereby the war time production created millions of new jobs under which young men were pulled out Women joined the work force to replace men

The efforts of civilians to support the war through personal sacrifice was as critical war as the efforts of the soldiers themselves , this brought a significant change in the role of women in the society . Though labor shortages were also felt in agriculture , the farmers were given an occupational exemption and few were drafted . Many Americans volunteered and moved to cities for factory jobs

The government offered arbitration to determine the wages and other terms of new contracts , these produced wage increases during the first few years of the war but this was not enough...
