It was however , conceived that through athletic programs the problem on color barrier will be overcome and even among countries , sports is the best way to create harmonious international relations

theless , among athletes , racial discrimination is very apparent One could remember the motto of the International Olympic Movement "Citius , Altius , Fortius (Swifter , Higher , Stronger , captures the spirit embodied by African-American athletes who have smashed virtually every color barrier in sports . The history of Jim Crow and sports had influenced in many situations that provided resolutions to issues and concerns involving blacks and whites . The age and degree of a sport 's professional organization , economic factors (ranging from cost of participation to financial rewards for the victors and their sponsors and individual personalities all interacted with segregation law and discriminatory attitudes to such a degree that generalizations about Jim Crow and sports are difficult

The breakthrough in Major League baseball brought by Jackie Robinson is the most recognizable point of reference for measuring the end of Jim Crow in professional sports . There were several Jackie Robinsons , male and female many who had to perform swifter , higher , and stronger while also acting as pioneers for their race . Their resistance , persistence and excellence on field , ball court , arena , and course , track , and sports venues of every created the foundation for integrated sports on which the opportunity and accomplishment of many outstanding or aspiring African-American athletes stand
