Hypothesis There is a significant relationship between the academic grades and reading achievement of the students There is a significant difference between the reading achievement of the sample before and after implementation of Failure Free Reading The sample has dominantly positive opinions on Failure Free Reading as an effective intervention for improving reading achievement Methodology Mixed Quantitative Comparison of pretests and post tests Statistical analysis Pearson Correlation Test Paired T-tests Qualitative Open Interviews before , during and after the intervention Subjective assessment Sampling Method Selected from all Grade 2 students in all sections of chosen school Captive Criterion sampling based on Previous academic performance Teacher 's Comments Parents ' Comments Consent from sample students and their parents will be sought Data Analysis : Quantitative SPSS will be used to treat collected data Relationship between academic grades and reading achievement will be determined using a Pearson 's r correlation test A paired t-test will compare the results of separate vocabulary and comprehension pre-tests taken by the sample before the Failure Free Reading intervention and post-tests taken after the intervention Data Analysis : Qualitative Interviews with each participant will be audio-recorded and transcribed afterwards Notes regarding each participant 's miscellaneous actions such as hand gestures , and facial expressions shall be noted during interviews Assessments derived from implicit and explicit messages received from each participant will be summarized individually References Achenbach , T .
