The first step should be to involve members of the public in this important first stage of the process . This will not be an issue owing to the continued use of community policing in the area . In the current undertaking , the police department will be collecting information on the most affected areas and probable suspects , which will make it easy for police to arrange for the investigations that would follow . This procedure is expected to make some important contribution , as well as building strong foundations for the collaboration that would be needed in the entire process . The department and members of the public should therefore feel obliged to support the community policing process from the beginning to end (Cohen , 2005 ,
