8. One of the concerns mentioned in the chapter regarding the use of genetic technology centers around privacy issues such as `genetic discrimination.` Once we improve our ability to screen the human genome for disease susceptibility, is there any level o
Genetic Engineering Genetic engineering is probably one of the most profound scientific breakthroughs in history (CNET , 2001 . This technique provides the best possible ways of manipulating organism components to sustain better health care procedures Primarily , genetic technology does not come at a cheap price . The procedure may benefit all of humankind but will start to have a direct influence to the perspectives involving financial concerns . The present state of the technique is already able to do so many advances in the field of medicine but is still at a very early

stage causing it to require enormous financial correspondences
However , as with any technology , there will come a time when gene based diseases may be eradicated or screened out so that beneficiaries can attain optimum level of health wellness . However , there should be a careful monitoring procedure by the society so that there is nothing in the process which will be compromised especially it concerns the public 's health . On the part of the society , there can be a delegated organization that will test which of the fabricated gene qualities are going to be useful . This will technically reduce costs on researches and take effect on the possible end customer products . Just like what is imposed on crop genetic products , only those good genes which are tested will enter the market
It is expected that discriminated genes will be valued at a high price but the public will not have any control whether the products will actually work . In this case , apart from testing , transparent reporting should also be considered
Another aspect of testing for efficiency is to a law which will monitor the complete work of laboratories engaged in genetic filtering . This will guarantee that every aspect of disease carrying traits will be eliminated , ensuring only safe and effective genetic products available for the commercial market
