Introduction

Music genre is a categorical and typological construct that identifies musical sounds as belonging to a particular category and type of music that can be distinguished from other types of music (Moy , 2004 . Music can be divided in different ways and at the same time this music has different genres which can be divided in many different ways . Due to the different purposes behind them and the different points of view from which they are made

, these classifications are often arbitrary and controversial and closely related genres often overlap (Longhurst 2007 . Many people do not believe that generic classification of musical genres is possible in any logically consistent way and tends to think that doing that sets limitation and boundaries that acts as a barrier to music development . There is no doubt that it is easier to note the similarities between musical pieces where there are exceptions and caveats associated (Moy , 2004

There are different types of genres of which some have differences and similarities

The firs example is lied commonly referred to as lieder in plural . The rise of lied was fueled by the outpouring of lyric poetry that marked the German romantism . The text of lied , range from tender sentiment to dramatic balladry . The universal themes of this genre are love , longing and the beauty of nature .
