Public vs . Private Education Parents have more options than ever before when it comes to the choice of sending their children to school . The once-unattainable private school has been made more cost-effective through the use of vouchers and a desire to include a more diverse population . Public schools are often not the last resort they used to be . The implementation of No Child Left Behind (NCLB ) was designed to raise the quality of education in public schools to the level of private schools NCLB provides for well-educated , qualified teachers as well as

schools that do not let failing students fall through the cracks . Had NCLB succeeded the way it was intended , parents would have stopped seeking vouchers to pay for private school . Instead , public schools in urban areas still have test scores that are still at an all-time low and it doesn 't appear that those scores will change anytime soon . The goal of public schools is to give every student an education . The goal of private schools is to give every enrolled student a superior education that will ensure them admittance to college . When one looks for a private school , one must consider if the school is accredited and what subjects they are willing to teach
I grew up in the public school system in an area where education was valued . My classes were often large , but students were focused on getting an education and potentially attending college . We didn 't have a big problem with discipline within the classroom most of the inappropriate behavior would take place outside of the classroom due to personal differences between students . Unlike many schools , the students at my school grew up with a respect for authority that they brought with them to school . Students rarely talked back to the teachers , and never to the principal . It was considered a big deal to have to go to the principal 's office students would talk about it for weeks afterward . I never had the need to attend a private school , but this is not true for students in urban areas , or whose parents expect them to take over the world someday . These student need to select the right private school that will give them the best opportunity to get into a prestigious university
Overview
Public schools are just that , public . Children can attend public school from kindergarten through the twelfth grade regardless of capabilities , financial status or even immigration status . Any child in the United States is permitted and obligated to go to school . Students must meet requirements (and now take an exam ) in to graduate from high school . Many students do not fit in with the usual mold . They may be brighter than the average student or require a bit of help to get through the school day . Others are disabled and need an entirely different environment . As every student has the right to an education schools must provide for these students . The United States educational system has several programs in place...
