The world is fast becoming a bless place . Cultures , races beliefs and ideologies are blend together and interact because of the growing advances in communications . In to succeed in this world one needs to be able to adapt to the various cultural differences as well as be able to maintain a certain sense of individual identity This is one of the main reasons why I think the Rutgers University is the best place for me to cultivate and develop my talents

My most important character strength , in my opinion , is my ability to

br adapt , accept and learn from different cultures . I traveled a lot when I was younger and have been exposed to all sorts of cultures and societies from the poverty of families in Jamaica to the wealth of families in California . I also attended a diverse High School at Dumont High School which has a student population composed of whites , blacks Spanish , Indian and Orientals . It was difficult to adjust to this environment at first but given my open-minded nature and keen interest in learning more about other cultures , I soon found myself in the company of Indian , Chinese and American friend from different cultures and religions

Another of my strengths which I believe will be beneficial to Rutgers University and which will also be developed at Rutgers is my leadership skill which I was able to hone during my tenure as the captain of the school varsity team . As the captain of the team it is important to be able to set an example for others and also motivate the members of the team . While I believe that I was able to polish these skills in high school , Rutgers University will definitely be a better place for me to develop such talents and allow me to use them in other endeavors outside of athletic activities as well

In my planned area of study which is criminal justice , it is important for one to be able to deal with all sorts of people from all walks of life . I firmly believe that Rutgers University with its vibrant community of people with a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences will allow me to become a better person and professional in my planned field
