Abstract The for this dissertation is Collaboration in Blood Banks in Saudi Arabia , and this study examines the various methods of coordinating and arranging infection free blood supplies within the country of Saudi Arabia , the ultimate goal being to ensure that there is safe , adequate and affordable blood supply for all patients in need of blood and blood products . We will examine along with further follow up procedures , the significant factors that influence the supplies of blood for the use of patients

. This research first addresses the issues by identifying the flaws and shortcomings in the existing collaboration systems between NGOs , blood donors , patients , societies and the blood banks . There is also need to ascertain on matters such as blood security and availability , whether regulations are being complied with and the extent to which there is special project coordination (Nightingale 2001 . We will examine whether blood centers across Saudi Arabia are paying attention to the growing needs and expectations of blood donors . This is essential since the issue of an efficient blood supply system is imperative for the smooth working of the hospitals , especially in view of the substantial risks involved in the context of Aids , malaria , and other infectious and contagious diseases . Attempts have been made to ascertain what measures could resolve issues relating to collaboration with donor requirements , financial support and support to patients suffering from blood diseases

Blood banks usually collect , store , process and provide blood that is intended for transfusion , perform testing before transfusion and finally transfuse the blood into the 2 patient . However mostly this entire process is done in two different centers . Firstly , the blood is collected and stored at one center while the stored blood is transported to another

Professional donors get paid for the blood that they donate and often get habituated in this practice and end up having poor quality blood for themselves as also in providing blood that is often rejected during quality checks (Tietjen 2003 . Many organizations keep a track of such donors and they are mostly dissuaded from going ahead with the donation

In Saudi Arabia the practice of having professional blood donors is not prevalent as the government insists on voluntary donation and there is presently no collaboration amongst blood banks primarily because almost all hospitals are well equipped with adequate supply...
