At every level of ability , cognitive lapses are unambiguously part of everyone 's life . Some , such as forgetting one 's phone , are merely inconvenient while others are extremely serious such as attention failure which may result in accidents , injuries and loss of life . This basically focuses on lapses that occur everyday as a result of cognitive failures which come as a consequence of absent consciousness or disengagement from ongoing activities such as placing the key in the

They are not the only mistakes that people make Many psychologists have classified errors into two types the mistakes that are made as a result of failure in the intention or planning phase and slips that occur during the phase of execution (Norman , 1981 . There are instances when an individual ends up performing an action that he did not intend . Such instances occur frequently and psychologists have attempted to explain their occurrence . My main concern in this is on the slips of action , particularly those of motor action . I will make reference to previous studies that attempt to categorize the various slips .
