In the film "The City on the Edge of Forever " there are several conflicting events that challenged the moral and ethical decisions of the main characters . One apparent example of this is the choice of Captain Kirk to allow the death of Edith Keeler . This is considered to be a losing situation for him since he loves the woman very much but there is a need for him to sacrifice her in to save the history

Captain Kirk was brave enough to accept the truth that being with Edith is not the best

thing for him since the future of the planet and its people is at stake . He opt to let Edith Keeler die and was even blamed for it . Regardless of how hurt he is , he still considers the fact that there is no victory without making the necessary sacrifices . The death of Edith made history go back the way it used to be and the traumatized Captain wanted to go back to his own time and world rather than stay in the hell where his beloved Edith died

Sacrificing the life of someone you love is never an easy decision .
