Running Head : CHRISTIANITY AND OTHER WORLD RELIGIONS

Christianity and Other World Religions Christianity is today 's largest religion in the world . It 's literal meaning would be followers of Christ ' which means that Christians believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God who came unto the world to save mankind from sin . Like in any other religion , Christians believe in the dominion of God in the lives of mankind and good deeds are required for its salvation . It is amazing how one religion could be very similar to other world religion yet

at the same time very different as the principal beliefs could not be reconciled

Christianity basically originated from Judaism , as Christ and the early Christians , including the twelve apostles , were Jews . Both religion believe in one God who is the creator of all . It was not long after the death of Christ when Christianity regarded itself other than a new Jewish sect . The Jews believe that salvation is only isolated for them while Christ preached that salvation is for all those who believe in the Kingdom of God and asked his followers to spread the Good News of salvation to everyone , Jews or non-Jews . In a way , Christians are the same with the Jews , but unlike the Jews who are strict in their belief that they are the only chosen people of God , Christians strive to let others know the life , works and teachings of Christ that all may partake of the promised salvation . They were outraged with the claim of Christ to be the Son of God . Christians also use the Jewish Bible as part of their own (all the writings in the Jewish Bible is also found in the Old Testament with the inclusion of the New Testament

Both religions inherited from Judaism the belief in one God Unlike Judaism , Muslims believe that Christ is a true prophet of God but Mohammed is their greatest prophet and unlike Christians , thy do not believe that Christ is the Son of God . Moreover , the relationship between Christians and Muslims is hardly ever been harmonious . As it spread , the Muslim Empire quickly conquered much of the Judeo-Christian Holy land and the Christian Byzantine Empire . The Christian Crusades were waged in large part against the Muslims with the original goal of recapturing Jerusalem and the Holy Land from Muslim rule . It was also luanched as a response to a call from the Byzantine Empire for help against the expansion of Muslims into Anatolia . Mutual distrusts between Christians and Muslims has continued to grow . The conflicts , however has more to do with political tensions and divergent cultural world views than with the religious aspects

There is no doubt that these religions believe in the concept...
