Introduction

For the last 50 years , there have been concerted efforts from the developed countries to assist the global south in different areas There have been increase in the aids and grants , structural adjustment neoliberal economic polices , and others which have all been aimed at reversing the high levels of poverty , hunger and diseases . However these three problems remain the greatest threats to economic development of the global south . While these

efforts have been aimed at reducing the gap between the rich and poor states , the approach has not worked and the gap continue to wide . This negative trend has been contributed by many factors some which can be attributed to governance in the global south and others which can be attributed to the global economic system and poor policy planning by the global governance institutions Although the development limitation in the global south can partly be attributed to years of exploitation through colonization , poor governance , war , and other factors are also to be blamed for the poor state in these countries . The challenges facing these countries are multifaceted and they need integrated approaches to tackle them .
