The check and balance system is developed by the delegates in constitution to prevent the possibility of dominion . The Constitution of the United States mandates that checks and balances must exist 'Checks denotes to the ability , right , and responsibility of each power to monitor the activities of the others and 'balances ' denotes to the ability of each entity to use its authority to limit the powers of the others , whether in general scope or in particular cases

The role of juries is very significant in check and balance theory

. They have the sole authority to determine the facts in most criminal and civil cases , acting as a powerful buffer against arbitrary enforcement by the executive and judicial branches . In many jurisdictions they are also used to determine whether or not a trial is justified , and in some places Grand Juries have independent investigative powers with regard to government operations . In check and balance system , the role of press is powerful because it has sizeable influence over public . Traditionally , the press has been considered the 'voice of the people ' keeping government somewhat in check but in modern system public opinion affects the outcome of elections , as well as indirectly influencing the branches of government for example expressing public sentiment with respect to pending legislation . This clearly states that an independent press acts as a powerful check against all forms of government , because it provides information about its activities to the public . An open society requires open access to press report , so that role of press in our democracy as a check and balance on government is not compromised . It has been observed many times that the press was too concentrated to adequately act as a check and balance on government power . Press also plays the role of a key check and balance on government secrecy and abuse . The more people know the truth that there is a higher court than the Supreme Court , we , the free people of the United States can control our government . We as citizens must never forget that this is our country and that it is a government of the people . These courts are our courts They belong to us . Judges are here only to serve , not to rule .
