It is important to know the child well and to observe or ask the child about his /her preference . Some children can learn a second language easily by communicating with their classmates without needing any ESL special classes . Others may require ESL classes whether it is in done in pull-out or remedial ESL classes . A factor to be considered is the emotional well-being of the children in addition to their mental ability . Some children are more confident and happy studying with their friends while others excel in one on one instructions . There should be an individualized class schedule arrangement if the pull-out method is done . For instance , the ESL pullout may be done during the Communication Arts English Language class time . In this case , the ESL pull-out may be a replacement for the English Language class . If the school does not permit this kind of class arrangement , then there should be a special instructor assigned to teach the subjects that these students have missed . For example , a teacher will teach students in different levels who have missed their English Language classes . The instructor must be skilled in multi-level classroom teaching .
