Among the several characteristics that every person may possess honesty is perceivably one of the most desirable . As a matter of fact most friendships end up being broken because the other lied . In some cases , it is honesty that serves as the foundation of a friendship . A true friend is expected to tell the truth , no matter how painful it may be . Hence , what

others do not know is that there are two more types of characteristics that needs to be inculcated in a person to thoroughly make him or her an ideal friend . Some people say that an honest person is trustworthy , all the while it is given that a friend who can be trusted is honest . One of the most common reasons why people look for friends who can be trusted is because the world today is filled with different kinds of people . No one will know who 's true from who 's not unless of course both has already tested the trials of time . It is trust that makes the friendship strong . Without this , the friendship may not last

In essence , the next form of character is considered as the personality which defies all odds . Given the fact that every person has his or her own sets of distinction , it is quite inevitable for two people to have a clash of ideas or on opinions (Schmidt , 1997 . As rational human beings , this is but normal and nevertheless a part of friendship . It is not all the time that two species have the same thoughts . And so to bridge this form of reality among friends , understanding is important . A friend understands the distinction of the other and vice versa . Along with understanding is settling down of pride . One must accept one 's mistake so as to easily resolve a problem . If two people will aim to dominate in an argument , then a resolution will not be attained . Which is why as friends , understanding should bond the two together - to keep the friendship

Even though there are certain characteristics that are conceivably ideal to friends , there are still those who does not care on their friends ' personality . They tend to accept their friends for who they ate and they blind themselves from the harshness of trying to other understand their friends .
