Child Study 4 : Marlene

Marlene was observed to be shy and silent in her preschool class , the child study was initiated to determine whether Marlene would be able to succeed in a preschool program . Ms . Katz , the evaluator administered the Developmental Indicators for the Assessment of Learning and the results indicate that Marlene is developmentally appropriate cognitively and does not seem to have problems when interacting with adults . Ms . Katz commented that Marlene may have been under stimulated in class which led to her being silent and shy . Based on the child

Her interaction with her two siblings is composed of listening to the eldest and helping the other one in kindergarten with homework . Her orientation therefore is mostly of adults , thus she does not know how to interact with children her age , which can be the source of her shyness and quietness in the classroom . She was observed to be friends with a small girl like her , indicating that she is comfortable with someone who is like her .
