The sociological perspective refers to the manner in which social phenomena is investigated , explored and understood . In sociology , the sociological perspective says that anything that occurs in society is a reflection of the interplay of the interdependence of the individual and society . The sociological perspective offers us a different way of understanding ourselves and society . How we are as individuals had been influenced by society and what our society becomes is a reflection of the kind of individuals that comprises it . When we say seeing ourselves and society with

a sociological perspective , it means that we apply the rules of the sociological perspective to our own analysis of social phenomenon and our roles in that phenomenon . For example , we often arrive at the conclusion that poor people are poor because they are lazy in this case being lazy is the sole cause of poverty . But when we use the sociological perspective , we begin to see that poverty is not always based on personal choice or laziness , but that society in itself perpetuates poverty . The lack of available jobs , economic crisis , lack of educational opportunities and the lack of health care might all contribute to poverty . At the same time , if as individuals we become too absorbed in our wealth , success , or power , we all race towards those goals and we do not give other people chances or opportunities to become better and successful , thus in a way we contribute to poverty .
