business managment
Dear Sir /Madam As I have mentioned in my previous mails that I need to motivate my team from a group perspective . However , I am finding it difficult to connecting with my team as an individual . I have been very fortunate to have managers like Mr XYZ in my previous organisation . On each of five components of emotional intelligence , as described by Daniel Goleman (1998 ) like self-awareness , self-regulation , motivation , empathy or social skills , he was the best He was able to understand personal moods and emotions and had a great sense of

humour . He respected others feelings and emotions and was able to assess himself . His confidence in himself and team was the most motivating factors for us . He was always sure of what he wants and how it wants . The best thing was the way he controlled everything . Never during my experience with him had I found anyone from my team feeling ignored or unmotivated . He encouraged open communication and preventive approach to the problems . He always appreciated good work of team members and set examples of good performers to others . He used appreciation , recognition and sometimes some other tools to keep us motivating . He gave credit to the person who contributed something in team . He was always open to new ideas . All of the teammates felt comfortable to discuss their goals , problems or issues with him
I want to handle my team in the same way he was handling . It is difficult for me . Most probably because of the diversity , they have in terms of their backgrounds , experience , goals in their lives and behaviours . I feel motivation is the most important factor in the present scenario . It is challenging to find me the factors that motivate them individually or as a team
I think there is a need to implement some changes in the organisation to promote the overall culture of the organisation . These changes should be directed to develop emotional intelligence of the managers . There are various ways to do the same . There should be time spend other than the regular meeting where personal goals and need of personal developments can be discussed . The communication should be open and transparent . The focus should be to develop a collaborative environment and service centred approach towards customers and clients
Now I am finding it really challenging to do the same . There should be a feeling of team and unity within the team . The lack of trust on each other as well as on their manager is one of the biggest hindrances to motivate them . I believe it requires time to build the kind of relationship , which I shared with my previous manager . I hope to develop trustworthiness , confidence , motivation and empathy with my team . I hope your valuable inputs will help me like always
Warm regards...
