This defines story telling as an interactive process between a story teller and a listener through the use of a specified composition of a tale using a certain approach and characters with a specified aim (Rives Cooper , 1997
This study acknowledges that there are different modes of storytelling and according to research they all have different effects on children with disabilities . For instance , computerized story telling cannot be effective to children with serious learning disabilities because they may not have enough attention to use computers effectively . Hence personalized story telling in which the child and the proposed caretaker go through the story telling process may be deemed to be most effective This study will analyze the various benefits story telling may have on children with learning disabilities . The purpose of this study will be focused on the different advantages of story telling in the growth and development of children with learning disabilities

Several studies have been carried out by many researchers to come up effective models of imparting knowledge to children with learning disabilities . However , research also states that storytelling has various benefits to the health and development of such children . For instance story telling helps children with learning disabilities to understand and comprehend the world around them easily . In this manner cognitive abilities of children with learning disabilities are greatly enhanced and developed

The purpose of this study is to establish the benefits of storytelling to children with learning disabilities . Hence , in summary this study has three important objectives to look at . One objective is to ascertain the impact story telling to children with learning disabilities . The second major objective will be reviewing the various ways storytelling models benefit the growth and development of children . Consequently the third objective in the scope of this study will be to suggest further research to enhance story telling to children with learning disabilities
