p I have always wanted to come to America . I have often thought ever since when I was a child that America would be able to provide me with the things I want in life . I am from Turkey and I was named __________________ by my father /mother . I was born on ______ ,1969 . I started school at the age of ______ . I spent eight years in elementary or middle school at (Name of school ) and three years in high school in (name of school . I graduated high school in 1986 . I am pretty smart

br and so my quest for knowledge has been my weapon and tool in learning even after getting a degree in college already . We are quite a big family , having four brothers and three sisters . Although I cannot quite describe how close we were because I lived with my grandparents when I was still a child , I know that we were quite good . We were just a typical family with both parents who treasured their children as much as the same way that they treasured God

When I was thirteen years old , I moved in with my parents after living with my grandparents . Grandfather was very strict and I had to go to bed as early as eight o 'clock . I was not even allowed to have friends in the house . Sometimes I resented why it had to be that way because I saw my classmates were allowed to stay up late and have friends at their respective houses . But nevertheless , I am still grateful that my grandfather was strict because his strictness taught me the values of having a good education . Unlike other girls my age who were busy with boys and other stuff , I focused on my education . This is probably why I had my first boyfriend at the age of sixteen . Having a boyfriend at this age is considered quite late since many of girls my age had already theirs even at the age of 12 . But then again , I guess I am just not cut out the same way the other girls are Many of the girls in my country have married at an early age because of the practice of betrothal or arranged marriage . I have been fortunate that my parents did not force us to marry for the sake of wealth or us girls settling down . Instead , my parents inculcated in us the values of education and this is evident when my father asked me to continue with my studies in the university . I know I am fortunate that I did not have the same fate that other girls in Turkey have or else I too might have suffered the dire plight that my country is in . If my parents have arranged my marriage to some guy against my own volition , I might not have been able to come to the United States
