Definition of the situation

The concept of definition of the situation refers to a collective agreement or understanding of the people on a given situation and how they react from it . The concept indicates that people organize their perception by assembling objects and meanings to understand their actions . Through this ,the people are able to make words , gestures symbols and objects meaningful through the meanings in turn delivered

through interaction

In the urban areas ,social is considered to be more fragile than in the rural communities . This helps me in understanding why the society beliefs and opinions in urban areas do not remain constant over time . Being a person who lives in an urban area , my opinion about certain issues vary with that of my friends in the urban area , while my friends in rural communities seem to have constant views about a situation . People derive meanings of situations from their social interactions

In an urban set up , the social is fragile because the heterogeneous populations have different plural beliefs . For example in an urban area people come from various races where the races have a cultural background . The different races have different social structures and practices , which makes it hard for the people from different races to have a definite social

Therefore , the perception that an urban population is diversified in their beliefs , customs and practices can be well understood . An urban heterogeneous community is observed to have different definitions of the situation because their beliefs and customs are not similar . Traditional communities social is strong and is not as fragile as that of urban communities . This is because their normal ways of relating and behaving is maintained by social structures and practices that encourage similar beliefs in the community members

The idea of Fragile ' in the text has helped me understand my perceptions , because I have realized that the social beliefs that influence my perceptions are affected by the type of community I live in . My different feelings about issues is due to the level of fragility of the social in the urban area of my residence

To me fragile ' means that different opinions are held by people from different races about others because people lack common customs and practices that may encourage a uniform opinion about situations Fragility arises from the emphasis of secondary relationships in an urban community instead of community ties that are found in rural communities , with individuals having less loyalty to the society Social cohesion is not as strong as in rural communities making race conflicts easy to occur in urban areas . Lack of social cohesion makes the community social structure fragile to conflicts of opinions where the people from different races interpret certain situations much differently
