Most people will play around with their phone at home or at the store they receive it from before using it on the road because they want to familiarize themselves with it so they feel comfortable using it , especially when driving . You should also have your phone within easy reach so you don 't have to scramble around looking for it causing you to take your eyes off the road . If you receive a call during hazardous conditions the best thing to do would be to let it ring or tell the person you will call them back . Avoid long social calls and distracting conversations . These will attract your attention more than the road will , causing you to be a hazard to others

If lawmakers were so set on eliminating extra distractions to the driver , they would need to get rid of stereos , cigarette lighters in the car , manual windows , and the heat /air conditioning controls . All these features in the car impose a distraction to the driver . This is why I think that things should stay the way they are , without cell phone laws People perform many different distracting tasks while driving . However the use of cell phones while driving is the most prevalent right now Lawmakers want to impose laws banning or greatly limiting the use of cell phones while on the road . This is a waste of time because no one will abide by the law anyway . The instant they see a police officer they can just set the phone down and resume the conversation as soon as they pass the police . Also , if talking on the phone while driving is so dangerous that there needs to be a law prohibiting it , then why aren 't there laws against eating in the car ? Or smoking in the car ? State officials need to really think about their opposals before submitting them because they think only of one main point , but don 't take into account all the other smaller points that are basically the same ...
