My Ultimate Dream : An Admission Essay for Ph .D

Living is quite challenging because it continuously requires many forms of learning . In life , education is not limited within the confines of the academe , but in relationships as well . I noticed that the more I learn about other people , the more I discover the kind of person I am On the practical side , I recently learned how to burn a compact disc all by myself . Although it took me hours to unravel its intricacies , I felt proud in the end . This validates my stand

As a candidate for a Master 's in Business Administration degree , I am once again filled with the need to explore the business sphere . This is the reason why I want to pursue a Ph .D . in Strategy and Organization , a field under International Management . As the concept of free market enterprise catches fire around the world , I feel the need to equip myself against the onslaught of globalization . I find it amazing to see how the world becomes one as free market emerges , and I want to have an initial taste of this phenomenon in the academe

However , my desire to pursue a Ph .D . stems from a personal conviction that there is more to the world that I need to know . I want to contribute to society by being a university professor . I know that an inspired teacher can bring out talents from among his students encourage innovation and nurture a new generation of scientists and philosophers . I think that a Ph .D . will help me achieve all these

Admittedly , I have this fear of public speaking . I cannot be confident in public unless I prepare at least one week before the presentation memorizing my speech word for word . My personal challenge is to conquer and eradicate this fear . I want to translate this weakness into strength by becoming a professor whose job mainly involves speaking publicly

Two years ago , I already had an excellent job with tremendous advancement opportunities . While many friends and colleagues did not understand my decision to pursue post-graduate study , I know that I have chosen the right path . I know I cannot afford to mentally stagnate if I want to be of help to other people

I graduated with a Bachelor 's Degree in business administration , major in marketing , from the Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh , PA . A few years later , I went back to the academe and took up a Master 's Degree in Business Administration from the Yonsei University , again with marketing as my focus

For many years my career revolved around the marketing side of business In fact , I used to work at the International Sales Division of Simone Handbag and Leather Goods Ltd -- a handbag manufacturing company -- from March 2002 to February 2004

Our clients included Kate Spade , Calvin Klein , and Playboy Seoul in Korea . It was a financially rewarding job , and I know many people would love to be in my shoes . However , I still quit my job to focus on my MBA studies . Besides , my long-term career plans really involve teaching

In the end , I actually have a very simple dream : to be able to live a normal life , find a job that I will really love , and build a very loving and supportive family . Since teaching is what I want to do professionally , a Ph .D . will be of great advantage to me . I want to provide an alternative to the traditional way of teaching by encouraging greater interaction between teachers and students .
