What if any are the economic duties of rich countries towward poor countires?

What if any are the economic duties of rich countries towards poor countries

The problem of inequality is a global problem . The modern world has been clearly structured there are rich countries and the poor ones . In modern political economy they are referred to as countries-donors and countries-recipients . These definitions reflect the relations between the poor countries and the rich ones

There are several aspects of relations between the countries with the different level of living standards . First of all if it is considered from the classical economic theory the rich

countries require their counterparts to be able to purchase their goods and services . That means their well being depends upon the well being of their partners directly It also means that the rich countries are interested in the stable economic development of the poor countries

From the humanitarian point of view we are all human beings disregarding the wealth of our country and we must keep to the Christian principles of supporting those who suffer from hunger , diseases etc

There are a number of international organizations aimed to support poor countries and first of all the United Nations Organization . Now and then some counties face humanitarian cataclysms caused by the natural disasters and the aim of UNO is to consolidate the world in the efforts to support the suffering countries

At the same time the natural resources granted to humanity are limited in their amount and the future of the mankind will depend upon the way we manage the natural resources . Garrett Hardin compares the Earth with the spaceship and offers to replace the wasteful "cowboy economy " of the past with the frugal "spaceship economy " required for continued survival in the limited world we now see ours to be '1

This theory is an idealistic one . The spaceship should be at least governed by somebody . This means the humanity needs either to create some authoritarian superpower which would manage the distribution of resources within the spaceship ' or the spaceship needs to be operated by some collective body consisting of the representatives of all the member countries . This is rather idealistic and unnatural approach . All countries have their own economic interests and the example of the European Union shows that even countries with more or less equal level of economic development have serious mutual misunderstanding . Globally such misunderstanding will be impossible to overcome

The most serious cataclysms occurring with the poor countries are natural ones , i .e . droughts , floods etc . No doubt the rich countries need to consolidate their efforts to give the humanitarian aid when the natural cataclysms occur . Still there is another question of the morality of such aid . For example the Republic of Ghana . Ghana with the population of about 20 mln is one of the major exporters of bauxites and cocoa beans . The Ashanti Gold Fields with the headquarters in the capital of the country , Accra mines 1 /10th of the annually . The parliament of the country did it best to get Ghana listed as the...
