For as long as time can tell , America has been the home of people from different races . Some have been welcomed , others questioned , and others rejected . In this light , the men who lead the country for so many years constructed a constitution wherein every man who will step on the soils of America shall be treated fairly

Unfortunately , despite having these laws and constitutional rights today , there are still

conflicts between people , especially between those who are from different races . There are those who had been discriminated against for their color , gender , and sexual orientation There are those who have been looked down upon , relating their physical features to their mental and emotional capacity . They have been judged at the workplace , in school , and even along the streets . Are there no more places where one can walk freely ? Did the laws created by the forefathers of this country fail to completely eliminate this spite between people

With this dilemma , a concept called Affirmative Action was created According to the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy (2005 , Affirmative Action is a means of tackling the problem through positive steps . It is through increasing the image of women and minorities in expanse of employment and education . Although history did not give them this benefit , the help of Affirmative Action somehow alleviated this downfall of a people

On the other hand , there are those who are arguing that Affirmative Action did not meet the objectives of its design . To these opposing individuals , it is a fact that Affirmative Action even brought about another kind of racial discrimination , which they called Reverse Racism It is when those who initially instigated racism are those who are being judged in return for their color and sexual orientation

In this regard , this shall discuss the arguments for and against Affirmative Action . By laying out the differences between these sides of the notion , one should be able to establish a clearer perspective of this controversial issue . For years , the people have been blinded from seeing both sides of the coin , leaving them biased and almost uneducated . But the presentation of the following arguments will allow people to learn more about these issues

Arguments for Affirmative Action

To restate , Affirmative Action was aimed to alleviate the problems experienced by the women and minorities in the US . In areas of education and employments , these members of society have been experiencing biases against them . With the help of Affirmative Action , these members will be given the support that is due to them

Affirmative Action should be promoted further due to the following reasons (1 ) it is the most substantive design of the government promising equal and just opportunity (2 ) it allows further research and improvements for its program and (3 ) racism in the US should really stop
