It has also talked about the Nez Perces wars with their opponents which they did win , how their opponents wanted to colonize and drive them away from where they were originally , the treaties signed and refused to sign which led to the division of the Nez Perces into two i .e . the civilized agriculturalists and hunters and stockmen
Introduction
The Nez Perces was an organized group who had a unique leadership and management structures , where each member had a say and could be heard Their leaders could not make a decision by themselves and had no much power vested on them and so had to sometimes be overruled by their people , and an issue had to be discussed for some days before a decision was to be made . Those who were never satisfied with the decisions made were free to go their ways . The ancestors of Nez Perces were big game hunters , but as the climate changed and population increased , they started specializing in hunting , fishing and gathering of grasses and wild plants . They had important values which guided them and this included bravery , justice , repression of emotions , self-discipline individual freedom , opposition to centralized authority , and dependence on supernatural forces to determine ones destiny . They had networks of mutual aid whereby they shared food with those who did not have
Leadership and Management
Leadership is sometimes regarded as a mysterious quality which a person either has , or does not have , and it includes qualities such as intelligence , strength , character and courage . These are supposed to be inborn and so cannot be taught or acquired . But a more helpful way of looking at leadership is to see it as a practical activity that one does . Leadership means responding to the current needs of a group organization in to meet their needs . Leadership develops as a person becomes more sensitive to the needs of a group , and as he /she becomes more confident about the responses required to help the group in different situations .
