PROSPECTUS Student Attitude and Performance Objectives Establish a relationship between students attitude and academic performance Establish a relationship between school context and academic performance Determine the most influential factor /s that affects academic success Theory Students ' performances are significantly affected by their attitudes towards diverse aspects (Bowen Richman , 2000 Different school avenues and environments can cause excellent or poor performance depending on implementation (Powers , 2006 Broughton , 2003 Methodology Sample : 15 - 20 high school students enrolled in a mathematics course A survey questionnaire assessing prevalent attitudes towards mathematics will be administered

to the sample Student performance prior to and during the research period will be recorded Methodology cont The sample will be divided into three groups based on the results from the questionnaire Follow up questionnaires will be administered every 20 days into the experimental period At the end of the experimental period , data collected on student attitudes will be correlated with student performance Limitations Delimitations Diversity of responses may make it difficult to categorize them properly Student attitude and school context are both complex parameters Constraints in sampling may make it difficult to generalize results to the population There is no comparison with other schools Conclusion The method is feasible and is grounded on theory from reliable literature There can be significant gains from the results of this research for the different stakeholders It can enable the educational system to enhance operations to be more in line with student needs It can introduce ways to increase student academic achievement References...
