Nature Ethics and Cityhood of Taipei , Taiwan

The ethics of preservation and conservation both work with the same end goal - to keep the forest and natural surroundings as intact as possible . Preservation ethics deals with the area , no amount of usage , even a piece of leaf for art purposes . On the other hand , conservation ethics entails the wise use of resources thereby not compromising the ability of the future generation to use it also . These two ethics have worked for the city of Taipei in Taiwan - it has emerged as one of the

most promising cities of the world , boosting off its rapid development phase while keeping the balance of nature

Bed by mountains on its three sides and a river on the west , Taipei is proud of its scenery as a city embedded in the heart of nature . I could adopt preservation ethics in the formulation and implementation of policies and laws protecting the forest from poachers and illegal loggers , as what the officials here are doing . There should be consideration in the fact that nothing should be logged down or used for commercial purposes . This means that the forest itself is the investment . If I want to insert conservation ethics , then it would only be from intangible benefits like aesthetics , spiritual healing and inner-self satisfaction . These could be done in hiking , outdoor recreation , and trekking in the forest of Datun Mountains , Neishuangxi Forest Park and the Nangang Forest Park

Development ethics was already successful here because only some parts of the city were subjected to development plans , like the Xinyi District . The city has capitalized on its natural landscape to promote its tourism aspects , and at the same time , pole-vault its economy to higher level . Tea plantations have also been established to support its agricultural sector

Truly , the city has started its pace for a prosperous and environment-friendly national progress . The world has still many things to witness from Taipei
